The University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna (VUW) is the oldest German language veterinary education establishment and the second oldest of its kind in the world. Research at VUW promotes veterinary science, integrated solutions in the areas of animal health, zoonosis control and food production quality assurance. Interrelationships between humans, animals and the environment also play roles in biodiversity conservation and animal welfare.

Central Veterinary Laboratory, Tanzania (CVL)

The Central Veterinary Laboratory (CVL) in Dar es Salaam was established in 1961 with funding from the British Government. It reports directly to the Tanzanian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. Today the CVL is the central Veterinary Research Institute of Tanzania. Its responsibilities extend to herd health in farm animal diagnostics, animal disease control and applied research.
